Is it possible to have zero calorie desserts? Not really, any dessert will have at least a small amount of calories. The trick is to choose the yummiest ones which contain the least number of calories. We’re all looking for those fantastic healthy chocolate desserts under 100 calories, right? We’ve selected a few low calorie chocolate desserts and other low fat, low sugar treats to help you get through the week guilt free.

Dark Chocolate Nutty Bark

Ingredients:

2 cups dark chocolate chips

1 cup assorted nuts, chopped in chunks

You can use hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, cashews and even experiment with raisins. You can choose to roast the nuts lightly for extra flavor.

Preparation:

Line a 12 x 9 inch baking tin with a baking sheet, or simply line with butter to avoid sticking.

Melt the chocolate on the gas. You can alternatively melt the chocolate in your microwave, if you are looking for a quick fix. Keep stirring the chocolate at 20 min intervals until melted.

Empty contents into a bowl and mix in the nuts. Stir well

Empty contents from the bowl into the tin and refrigerate until set. Usually about 20-30 minutes.

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon ghee

1/2 cup ragi

1 1/2 sugar or sugar substitute

1/4 teaspoon cardamom/elaichi powder

1/4 cups finely chopped nuts and raisins

Preparation:

Add the ghee to a non-stick saucepan and add the ragi. Saute the mixture on medium flame for about two minutes.

Add 1 1/2 cups of hot water and continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, stir continuously and keep on medium flame.

Turn the flame off and add the sugar, elaichi powder and the nuts. Stir and mix up well.

Serve fresh.

Caramel Apple Cookie Crunchies


Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

6 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 teaspoons vanilla extract/essence

1 large egg

3/4 cup dried apple slices, finely cut

3/4 cup caramel bits

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 350° F

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and mix well.

Place sugars and butter in a separate bowl and whisk with an electric beater. Add vanilla and egg to the mixture and beat on low speed until light and fluffy.

Add the flour mixture in parts and beat on low until just combined.

Fold in the apple and caramel bits.

Drop the dough by teaspoons, 2 inches apart onto baking tray lined with baking paper. Flatten the dough drops and place in the oven. Bake for 9 minutes. Let the cookies cool for about 5 minutes and remove the cookies from the pan.
