Omega-6 Fatty Acids
We all know how good omega-3 fatty acids can be for us. Apart from these, processed foods, vegetable oils and hydrogenated fats are all sources of omega-6 fatty acids. These fatty acids are likely to increase inflammation and cause obesity.
Hummus is filled with beans and chickpeas. Legumes are filled with starchy compounds like stachyose and raffinose. These are difficult to digest and sometimes remain undigested by the small intestine which causes gas. We all know that gas is never a good thing, neither for you nor for the ones around you. Gas can also slow you down, reduce energy levels and leave you feeling bloated.
While broccoli is highly ranked among the list of health foods, it is also extremely high in fiber. Now, fiber can be really good for you but it is also quite hard to digest. High-fiber veggies like cauliflower and broccoli will help clean your GI tract but the process can leave you feeling bloated and bulky. You might want to stick with low-fiber veggies in the morning like asparagus or carrots.
Most protein bars have started to use sugar alcohols as a substitute for sugar. Most people have a hard time digesting these. This will only result in you feeling bloated and uneasy post your workout. Try eating a banana instead if you need an energy refuel.
